Mission & Vision
Our Mission
At Ashton Lacey Consulting (ALC), our mission is to support Indigenous organizations, Nations, and communities in building stronger systems that are culturally grounded, community-driven, and capable of creating meaningful and lasting change.
We bring together Indigenous knowledge, executive leadership experience, organizational expertise, and practical strategies to help organizations navigate the realities of governance, policy, strategic planning, organizational change, and service delivery.
Our work is rooted in decolonization, Indigenization, and community-led practice. We believe Indigenous organizations should not have to choose between meeting external requirements and remaining true to their communities. We work alongside our clients to find ways to meet those requirements while strengthening Indigenous values, knowledge, relationships, and ways of working.
We also support non-Indigenous organizations seeking to better understand Indigenous perspectives and the work of decolonization. Through meaningful learning, dialogue, and practical application, we help organizations move beyond simply learning about Indigenous peoples toward understanding how their own policies, practices, and systems can change.
Our mission is not simply to create better policies, plans, or organizations. It is to help create systems that better serve the people and communities they exist for.
Our Vision
Creating Good Ancestors
Our vision is to contribute to a future where the decisions we make today strengthen the generations that come after us.
We believe that good leadership is measured not only by what we accomplish during our time, but by what we leave behind for those who follow.
We envision Indigenous organizations and communities where people feel heard, where community knowledge informs decision-making, where policies and systems reflect the values of the people they serve, and where meaningful engagement is more than a consultation—it is part of how decisions are made.
We strive to support organizations in creating policies, plans, programs, and systems that are strong enough to serve today and meaningful enough to be carried forward by future generations.
Creating good ancestors means thinking beyond the immediate outcome.
It means asking:
What are we building?
Who will this serve?
What are we leaving behind?
And will the generations who come after us be better because of the choices we made today?
That is the work we want to be part of.
