What I can offer you...

As a culturally connected Indigenous woman who is educated and experienced in Indigenous policy; I understand the importance of culturally connected ways of designing typically western focused programs and policies to suit the needs of community. What sets me apart from other consultants is that I can offer real experience with government, tried and true methods of success, and valuable knowledge based off of trial and error.

Decolonizing policies and western methods to fit Indigenous communities is my passion. Decolonizing to me means focusing on the culture and traditions of Indigenous people. There are usually boxes to check, but I find the most creative and culturally relevant ways to  check those boxes but stay true to the communities needs, wants, and values.

Indigenizing policies and methods to me means completely revamping in areas where Indigenous traditions and culture can completely overwrite policies or procedures. This means creating something completely new! Every policy/method will be different because no community is the same. This method requires wholesome community engagement and is created with community voices.

Cultural Sensitivity/Safety

As a Tsilhqot'in member who is connected to the land, the stories, and my culture, I am qualified to provide a cultural awareness presentation for organizations within the Tsilhqot'in territory.

Cultural sensitivity/safety is essential in working with Indigenous populations. If you are an organization that is working within the Tsilhqot'in (Chilcotin) territory, it is important to understand Tsilhqot'in people, their relationship to the land, and the history of the area. This training will teach awareness for the communities you work for/with, and give your staff a better understanding of Government and Indigenous relationship.

If you are an organization outside Tsilhqot'in territory, I am able to provide a more localized overview with a general presentation on First Nations as a whole.
